The Pilgrims of Deep Run are a Baltimore-based Irish band dedicated to bringing the spirit of the Irish pub to audiences across the East Coast. Formed as the 2020 quarantine was beginning to lift, they came together through a shared passion for traditional Irish music, storytelling, and a need for human connection. Inspired by legendary acts such as The Irish Rovers, The New Barleycorn, and The Dubliners, their shows capture the joy, humor, and camaraderie of a true session — music to laugh, dance, sing, and drink to.
Members seamlessly switch between voice, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, bodhrán, bouzouki, and Irish whistle, keeping arrangements fresh while honoring the roots of the music. Their performances create a shared experience — with call-and-response choruses and foot-stomping rhythms that pull every person in the room into the circle. Their monthly residency at Black Locust Hops Farm Brewery (since December 2022) has built a loyal following, while performances at the Virginia and Maryland Renaissance Festivals, the Guinness Open Gate Brewery, and St. Patrick's Day celebrations across the region showcase their ability to entertain any crowd.

Where We've Played

What People Say
"The Pilgrims of Deep Run absolutely rocked the New Deal Café. Patrons were repeatedly saying 'This is the best Irish band we've ever had!' and 'When will they be back?' Every player was clearly having fun on stage, and even better than their high-energy performance was their musicianship, beautifully playing traditional Irish music with ease and poise. We cannot WAIT to hear them again!"— Caitlin Gompf, New Deal Café
"Beautifully blended vocals, foot-stomping rhythms, some of the best spoon-playing you'll ever see. They take ancient, traditional Celtic tunes and play with such high-energy joy, it leaves the listener breathless, hands tingling from clapping along. Like being back in Ireland at the pub! You can almost smell the peat in the air as these talented musicians take you on a magical journey to the very roots of Irish folk music."— Lisa Carton, Black Locust Hops Farm Brewery
"We were totally thrilled with the Pilgrims' music at our wedding. They took the time to meet with us several times, discussed exactly what we wanted, and even learned new songs for the ceremony. Their wonderful performance infused a spirit of joy and gaiety into this special day."— Jeff Johnson & Carol Hoyle, Wedding Clients
"The PoDR were a pleasure to host, both musically and professionally. They put on an engaging, fun, and beautiful show, and kindly assisted with logistics and advertising. We'd happily have them back anytime."— Tyler St Clare, Four Hour Day Lutherie
"Drawing on the traditional while sounding fresh and in the moment — skilled musicians locking in with fine detail, infusing the songs with a sense of joy and revelry. I look forward to the Pilgrims returning to Rhizome."— Jon Camp, Rhizome
